Mauviel Copper Cookware

Speaking of one pot recipes – we recent upgraded our decade-old soup pot to a gorgeous Mauviel copper stockpot. The difference has been life changing.

Copper might seem intimidating but it’s actually super user-friendly! It is unrivaled in its ability heat and cool quickly and Mauviel is the best in the game.Because of that, everything can be cooked on low to medium low heat. It heats uniformly at these low temperatures meaning bits of food don’t burn in one spot. The handles also stay cool during use.

And it’s pretty. Sooooooooooo pretty. One Pot Easy Stovetop Vegetarian Taco Soup Recipe (3)

Made this for lunch today, with my own taco seasoning, it’s not an ingredient freely available in the UK, and it was delicious. Full of flavour and so handy to throw everything in the slow cooker (crocpot) for an overnight cook. Have already made a stock for the freezer

FAQs

Addition of Cornstarch or Flour: Create a slurry by mixing equal parts cornstarch or flour with water. Stir this mixture into the soup and let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens. Ensure there are no lumps by gradually adding the slurry while stirring constantly.

How long is taco soup good for in the fridge? ›

You can keep taco soup in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days if it's in an airtight container. You can also freeze soup after it has cooled. Is it better to thicken soup with flour or cornstarch? ›

The most classic and surefire way to thicken a broth-based soup is with a cornstarch slurry. Whisk together equal parts cornstarch (or arrowroot) and water or broth, then whisk it into the pot of soup. A good ratio to get to a pleasant thickness without your soup tasting goopy or heavy is one tablespoon.

What ingredient makes soup thicker? ›

Why do you put vinegar in vegetable soup? ›

It may sound a bit strange and unusual for some, but vinegar is a common ingredient in some soup recipes, and there is a good reason for it. If you think about it, vinegar is really a flavor-enhancer (umami). That's why it is so often used in cooking, sauces, and salad dressings. The same is true with soups.

Do you simmer vegetable soup covered or uncovered? ›

Most soups would be simmered covered to capture the moisture, however, if the soup needs to be reduced because you added too much liquid then uncovered is the way to go. If you are simmering uncovered it's best to check on the soup often to make sure it hasn't reduced down too much.

Why do you put lemon juice in vegetable soup? ›

Fresh lemon juice squeezed into the soup at the very end wakens up the broth. The soup won't taste lemony, just brightened and lively. Fresh herbs and fat from a dollop of prepared pesto stirred into each bowl before serving is a real treat. I like my Vegan Pesto recipe, or Gotham Greens vegan pesto.

There are several reasons why taco soup may turn out thin and watery. One common reason is using too much broth or liquid in the soup. Additionally, not simmering the soup for long enough can lead to a thin consistency.

How do you fix watery tacos? ›

Corn starch is a good way to thicken up the water into something more saucy. This is my preferred method if the extra water actually has flavor, because it adds a nice sauciness to the dish. Make a corn starch 'slurry' by mixing cold water and some corn starch, then add that to the hot dish that still cooking.

What can I use to thicken my tortilla soup? ›
