SWTOR Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector's Edition announced (2024)

BioWare announced the Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition, launching with the expansion on February 15th! But what’s in it?

What is the Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition

Less than two weeks before the launch of SWTOR 7.0 Legacy of the Sith BioWare revealed that they are going to sell an exclusive bundle of in-game items. This bundle is called Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition.

You can get it on Steam or purchase it from swtor.com. The price is $39.99. It launches alongside the expansion on February 15th.

What’s included in the Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition

The Legacy of the Sith Collector’s Edition contains the following items:

  • 30 days of subscription time (access to all expansions, includingLegacy of the Sith)
  • 2400 Cartel Coins
  • Malgus’s Command Chamber Mount
  • Darth Vindican’s Dualsaber
  • MD-CH1 Droid Minipet

Here are the preview images BioWare gave us of each item:

Specific requirements and notes about the bundle

Alongside the official announcement today BioWare also posted a short FAQ, detailing the requirements and availability of this offer.

Can anyone purchase this offer?
Yes! Whether you are a new or existing player this is available for purchase. Note that you can only purchase this offer once per account.

How will I receive the items after purchase?
The subscription time and cartel coins will be automatically added to your account. The 3 digital items will be waiting for you in your character’s in-game mailbox. These items will be available on all of the characters on the account where the purchase was made.

Are there any restrictions on the items?
All bundles and their items are non-tradeable and non-transferable.

Does this Collector’s Edition have any relation to previous Collector’s Editions?
It does not. You will only receive the offerings listed above. Ex: You will not gain access to the Collector’s Edition vendor from the Classic CE.

A few thoughts on the Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition

I find it strange that BioWare announced this out of the blue, without much of a flair and hype to it. Just like that. A “collector’s edition” should not be slapped to just any bundle of items.

Perhaps these are unique and never-to-be-seen again items? The Mount certainly looks unique. I can’t remember any other mount in SWTOR having an interior, let alone such a detailed interior space.

The mini-pet droid is also very cute. At least it’s an interesting design, not an R2 unit rehash.

The Legacy of the Sith Collector’s Edition will be available for a limited time only. This is a classic example of a FOMO (fear of missing out) effect.

Finally, the price. I think the price is justified when compared to what some single purchase items cost today on the in-game Cartel Market. The Cartel Coins alone cost $20 and the monthly Subscription is another $15. The total price of this offer is actually great.

I like the items we are getting. They are perhaps not a surprise to many of you, because BioWare made some visible on PTS a couple of months ago. The surprise was the fact that they offer them as part of this bundle. And at a price that you will never see anywhere else.

I don’t like it when I advocate and promote purchasing of digital items from an in-game store, but these are worth it. They are cool, unique, new, cheap and you get a full month of Subscription time and some extra Cartel Coins on top of that. All for $40. Good job, BioWare!

We criticize them when we have to. There are plenty of examples where BioWare did wrong or bad during the 7.0 PTS phases, but I believe that this offer they announced today is a great one. And a perfect way for the loyal fans to show their support to the developers.

Legacy of the Sith is shaping up to be exciting, although a bit controversial expansion in terms of new features, gameplay mechanics and changes. We still don’t know much about the new story, but the fact that we only get one new planet (Manaan) to explore fully, is very worrisome. So, it’s up to you if you want these items and you want to support the devs.

The good news is that I will buy this anyway and will do a full review for you to be able to better judge if the items are as cool as they look on the screenshots above and if they are worth your money.

UPDATE: I have done a full review of the Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition bundle.
